{"id":28,"date":"2016-04-06T11:38:30","date_gmt":"2016-04-06T11:38:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shankillmatters.com\/?page_id=28"},"modified":"2016-04-26T09:24:01","modified_gmt":"2016-04-26T09:24:01","slug":"trees-for-all","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/shankillmatters.com\/index.php\/projects\/trees-for-all\/","title":{"rendered":"Trees for All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shankill Tidy Towns and Crann in co-operation with D\u00fan Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the local community have taken the initiative to plant more than 13,242 trees in the environs of the village \u2013 one tree for every resident. <\/p>\n<p>This project is their contribution to offset the carbon emissions of the community and contribute positively to Ireland\u2019s greenhouse gas abatement strategy. It is hoped that this project will be a nationwide initiative that Tidy Towns groups could emulate in future years. <\/p>\n<p>The trees will also help contribute to the conservation and enhancement of Biodiversity in Shankill and the group have set up a nursery with a seed bank for future generations. The \u201cTrees for All\u201d project is about people in the community taking action today that will reap benefits for our children and grandchildren \u2013 a thriving landscape full of life.
